Built by the Government Aircraft Factories (GAF) in Australia, this B.20 Canberra was constructed in 1955 and had its first flight on 28 October of that year. It was eventually delivered to the charge of the RAAF on 24 April 1956. I have no record of whether it initially joined a squadron or the trials flights. Sadly, I have no other history for this B.20 survivor except that it was relegated to Ground Instructional use at RAAF Wagga. As you can see from Daryll’s picture taken in September 2002, it looks as if it is being kept in fairly good display condition complete with engines still fitted. Note the black sunblock covering over the cockpit dome to prevent ultra-violet damage to the perspex. |
